The conference provided a platform to highlight the transformative potential of in silico methodologies in revolutionising medical product safety and performance.

A dedicated session on in silico methodologies, featured four talks making a strong pitch for computer modelling and simulation. Speakers from the in silico community presented tangible evidence, inlcuding:

  • an academic insight on the landscape and the scientific advancement on in silico trials (Prof. Alex Frangi, UK-CEiRSI – University of Manchester, Avicenna Alliance),
  • an industry perspective on the use of modelling in product testing, alongside the development of ASME V&V 40 standard (Jeff Bischoff, PhD, Zimmer Biomet),
  • the clinical insights on evaluating uncertainty and next steps for leveraging in silico evidence in regulatory assessment (Dr. Gavin Quigley, BSI, Notified Body), and finally
  • the economic incentives driving this adoption (Michael Kipping, PhD, Elements).

The audience actively engaged in Q&A, leading to a key takeaway on the significant de-risking and cost-reduction potential that in silico medicine technologies offer along the entire lifecycle of medical product development.

Alongside these presentations, the VPH Scientific Officer Janaki Raman R PhD, reported on the ecosystem initiatives of the VPH and Avicenna Alliance, which are aimed at accelerating regulatory science.

RAPS Euro Convergence 2025, was a welcome opportunity to spread the word on in silico medicine to regulatory professionals and connect with the wider community.
