VITAL Training School - From Clinical Data to Cardiovascular Digital Twins
VITAL Training School
9-12 February 2026 - University of Auckland, New Zealand
From experimental and clinical data acquisition to the personalisation of physiological models, this postgraduate training school will introduce public open-source tools and techniques developed within the VITAL consortium. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to build a complete workflow for constructing cardiovascular digital twins, with applications to in-silico clinical trials, hypotheses testing, biomarker discovery, and more.
The training school will cover key topics such as signal acquisition and processing, uncertainty quantification, model calibration, hetero-dimensional and multiscale modelling, and integrated physiology modelling. Each lecture is accompanied by a hands-on session, allowing participants to implement and apply the explained techniques into their workflow using VITAL tools. Sessions are designed to build upon each other, resulting in a full life-cycle workflow by the end of the school.
All topics and software tools presented are focused on cardiovascular system modelling. Participants are encouraged to bring their own data to develop a workflow tailored to their specific research interests.
