The VPHi is hiring: come and join our technology, regulatory science and policy team!

The VPH institute is looking for 2 motivated persons with a background in computer modeling and simulation, digital twins, artificial intelligence or health data to reinforce the team and help to build the ecosystem for digital twins in healthcare.

In the first decade since its incorporation, the VPH institute has been actively working on building an in silico medicine ecosystem through the organization of activities that are typical for scientific societies such as conferences, summer schools and webinars. But besides this, it has continuously worked on preparing the path from the computer screen to the patient. In order to do so, it actively engages with policy makers, regulators and other stakeholders. Since 2016, it has strongly increased its interaction with industry through the establishment of and involvement in the Avicenna Alliance.

Currently, the VPHi team is composed of an executive director (Liesbet Geris), a general manager (Martina Contin), a scientific officer (Raphaelle Lesage), a graphic designer (Giulia Bassetti) and a communications officer (Roberta De Michele). Due to a recently awarded European project, we are now looking for additional collaborators to reinforce our team.

Do you have a background in computer modeling and simulation, digital twins, artificial intelligence or health data? Did you finish your MSc or PhD and are looking for a way to gain additional experience in the translational aspects of our field before returning to academia or making the switch to industry or public institutions? We are looking for you!

Over the coming 2 years, the VPHi will take the lead in building an ecosystem for digital twins in healthcare by actively engaging with all stakeholders (industry, regulators, healthcare professionals, patients), contributing to relevant regulatory guidances and policies, developing a roadmap towards the integrated human digital twin and compiling a compendium of online training materials. Experience with regulatory science or policy is not required but basic knowledge is a plus. We offer a very dynamic work environment in an international setting at the forefront of in silico medicine. After a period of training, you will be expected to contribute to and possibly take the lead in the development of one or more of the aforementioned activities – always in concertation with the rest of the team.

The VPHi is incorporated in Belgium, which is also where the technical, regulatory and policy work is taking place. The communication and outreach office of VPHi is situated in Bologna, Italy. The current projects ensure funding for the following 2 years with possible extensions contingent on participation in future funded projects. Salary and benefits are comparable to equivalent positions in academia and industry. The 2 positions are immediately available. Vacancies will be reviewed continuously and remain open until filled.

Want to know more? Send a CV, cover letter and contact details of 2 references to Martina Contin (manager@vph-institute.org) and Liesbet Geris (director@vph-institute.org) using ‘VPHi science vacancy’ as title of the email.
