As part of KU Leuven’s 600-year celebrations, the iSi Health Symposium gathered global leaders in in silico medicine. Inspiring talks explored the evolution of the field, AI for movement analysis, patient involvement, and clinical and regulatory challenges. The event fostered vibrant discussions and new collaborations to shape the future of in silico healthcare.
The iSi Health Symposium in Leuven, held as part of KU Leuven’s 600-year celebrations, was a great success!
The event gathered leading voices in in silico medicine and featured a series of inspiring keynotes.
On the first day, Prof. Peter Hunter (Auckland Bioengineering Institute, New Zealand) gave an insightful talk on the evolutionary journey of in silico medicine. Prof. Scott Delp (Stanford University, USA) highlighted cutting-edge technologies for movement analysis and showed how AI can democratise access to these innovations. Our director, Prof. Liesbet Geris (KU Leuven, ULiege), presented the VPH’s activities in communication, regulation and policies and stakeholder engagement. Meanwhile, our social scientist, Zita Van Horenbeeck (VPH, KU Leuven) together with Elisa Lievevrouw (KU Leuven), engaged the audience in an interactive session on patient involvement in shaping the future of in silico medicine.
Towards the end of the first day — and throughout the second — the focus shifted beyond the modelling community to multidisciplinary research and collaboration. Topics included clinical engagement, training and re-training the healthcare workforce, translating innovations into the market, and navigating legal and regulatory challenges.
The symposium sparked vibrant discussions and new collaborations. We look forward to continuing to bring together the scientific community — with stronger involvement of both clinicians and patients — to drive the future of in silico healthcare forward.
