2 year post-doc position in facial image processing for non-verbal communication analysis at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona

The Department of Information and Communication Technologies, UPF-Barcelona is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work on algorithms for the extraction of non-verbal communication information from facial videos. 

Research context:

This position is framed within the Kristina project (http://kristina-project.eu/en/). Kristina is an EU funded research project, which aims at researching and developing technologies for a human-like socially competent and communicative agent that is run on mobile communication devices and that serves for migrants with language and cultural barriers in the host country. While this position is hosted by the CMTECH group at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies, UPF-Barcelona (http://cmtech.upf.edu/), intense collaboration with project partners is expected. 

UPF is ranked as the most productive university in Spain in research outcome and attraction of funds (THE2014) and 12th worldwide among young universities (THE2014, 100 under 50). The community at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (> 50 nationalities) conducts research in a broad range of fieldscreated around the convergence of ICT with computing science, networks, biomedical and cognitive sciences. The active participation in international programs (67 projects in FP710 prestigious ERC grants, the Human Brain Project) creates a unique environment for the development of talented researchers.

Your profile:

Your task will be to investigate and implement innovative algorithms for the extraction of non-verbal communication information from facial videos. Applicants are expected to have finished, or be about to finish their Ph.D degree in Computer Science / Image Analysis or similar. We expect solid English skills, a strong background in computer vision and/or machine learning, with a track record of relevant publications at top venues and excellent programming skills in C/C++ and Matlab. 

Position details:

Starting date: October/November, 2015

Salary: Around 30k (EUR) depending on experience

Duration: 2-year fixed-term contract (1 year + renewal for another year based on performance)
