On 17 January, the Commissioner for Digital Agenda, Ms. Neelie Kroes, published in her blog an entry through which she emphasised the beneficial impact that innovative digital technologies can have for healthcare and healthcare management.
After mentioning the role that innovative digital technologies can have in supporting an active and healthy ageing for the elderly and the European Parliament’s support to the eHealth Action Plan, Ms. Kroes highlighted the importance of integrating digital technologies beyond “traditional boundaries” as well as the necessity of developing a “dynamic innovative healthcare ecosystem”.
That Commissioner Kroes is so supportive of interoperability and eHealth may ultimately benefit VPH members should the European Commission decide to follow up on her statements.
