Multiscale phenomena are ubiquitous and are the key to understanding the complexity of our world. In computational research, tackling problems in a multiscale way reveals a deeper understanding of a system under investigation and higher-fidelity output. With the advent of exascale supercomputing power, multiscale simulations hold unprecedented power for researchers. The key to unlocking this power is being able to wield it.

In this webinar, a number of topics will be described, such as multiscale computing and multiscale computing patterns and the software tools and services required to run multiscale applications on supercomputers. Two demonstrations of these concepts and tools in action from two of ComPat’s research applications involving Fusion and Materials science will be also given. Of course, the tools and concepts can apply to all forms of multiscale science. Along the way, you will be given opportunities to ask questions on everything that will be presented, as well as how it relates to your own research.
