Web developer at Auckland Bioengineering Institute

Fixed term contract from 1st February 2018 - 31st January 2021

Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI) is looking for a new web developer to join the professional software development team at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute with key responsibility for the design, development, and deployment of web-based tools for use in world-leading scientific research.

ABI focuses on open-source software development primarily in the field of computational physiology, with this role specifically focused on supporting a new international collaborative project to help scientists from around the world share their experimental and computational data more effectively.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to design and develop web-based software solutions and applications. Along with being able to enhance existing products and integrate effectively.
  • Experience in developing software in JavaScript, Python or other high level languages
  • Some experience in software development on complex projects or larger systems including design and implementation.
  • Able to work in the open for open source software development as part of the job.
  • Strong interest in software technologies and application to health sciences.
  • Drive to 'take ownership' of a software product.
  • Strong team player, willingness to communicate/work with others.
