TRM Forum on Computer Simulation of Cardiac Function

On December 4th and 5th, the 9th TRM Forum on Computer Simulation of Cardiac Function took place in Lugan and was attended by our Executive Director, Prof Lies Geris.

The event brought together a tightly interacting group of clinicians, modelers and engineers working on various aspects of the heart physiology. This year’s theme was “From model to clinical outcome”.

With interesting presentations and lively discussions, a number of key questions were discussed on how models could be used to enhance clinical practice at all levels. The workshop ended with a discussion on the Avicenna Roadmap and the challenges defined therein.

There was a general consensus amongst the audience on the route forward that includes thorough validation and uncertainty quantification of the models, as well as the need for standardization and data/model management – in close collaboration with industrial and regulatory partners.
