Chair in mathematical modelling in the cardiovascular system - University of Sheffield

University of Sheffield is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Mathematical Modelling in Medicine (MMM) Group, based within the Department of Infection, Immunity & Cardiovascular Disease (IICD), to work with one of the country’s leading groups in the field of modelling blood flow, to address clinical problems such as valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, left ventricular failure, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, venous thrombosis and others.

The candidate should already be an outstanding scholar, a successful independent researcher, and familiar with the challenges of personalised medicine and translational projects. He/she will have a strong background in mathematical skills and computational fluid dynamics, and be able to work alongside clinicians, engineers, medical physicists, modellers and software developers. The candidate will be able to demonstrate skills in the leadership and the mentoring of academic staff with excellent team building skills and be an inspiring teacher and supervisor of students, both undergraduate and postgraduate. He/se will already be well published in the field, and have experience of attracting substantial grant funding with a clear vision for developing Computational Modelling in Sheffield.

The candidate should have a PhD in a relevant subject.
