The next Avicenna Alliance monthly webinar will take place on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, featuring Dr. Erica Beaucage-Gauvreau, Coordinator of iSi Health at KU Leuven and Co-Chair of the Avicenna Alliance Clinical Deployment Task Force.
Her presentation, “iSi Health: Bringing In Silico Technologies from Bench to Bedside”, will introduce the mission and activities of iSi Health—KU Leuven’s newly founded institute dedicated to advancing physics-based modelling in healthcare. The institute supports multidisciplinary research with the goal of enhancing the scientific and clinical credibility of in silico health technologies.
iSi Health focuses on five core domains:
Development of innovative modelling and simulation methods
Definition and validation of in silico health models
Establishment of socio-economic and legal frameworks
Clinical integration of in silico technologies
Education and public outreach initiatives
This webinar will provide insight into the ongoing and future initiatives of iSi Health and how they contribute to the broader adoption of in silico approaches in clinical settings.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Erica Beaucage-Gauvreau has a strong background in physics-based computational modelling, with a particular focus on the human spine. She earned her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Adelaide (Australia) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the KU Leuven Institute for Orthopaedic Research Training. Since April 2022, she has been leading iSi Health, fostering collaboration across disciplines to support the clinical deployment of in silico methods.
