WHO and I-DAIR signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing international research in digital health

On 6 July 2022 the World Health Organization and the International Digital Health and AI Research Collaborative (I-DAIR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the objective of promoting international research in digital health and artificial intelligence.

I-DAIR is a multi-stakeholder platform which aims at improving access to innovative research on digital health and artificial intelligence for clinical researchers, policy makers and patients around the world. The intent of the partnership is to enhance the digital revolution in the field of health, by promoting cross-domain/cross-border cooperation and encouraging innovative digital health long-term solutions. To achieve that, the document sets out a series of joint activities such as the development of new guidelines for the governance of health data and of evidence cases for investments in digital health at a global level.

This partnership represents an additional show of support and prioritization on behalf of the WHO regarding AI. The MoU not only recognizes the role of innovative technologies in facing pressing health challenges, but also strives to enhance research and innovation in the field of digital health at an international level.
