We are happy to announce that Prof José Manuel García-Aznar from University of Zaragoza has recently joined the BoT as Financial Auditor replacing Prof Alfons Hoekstra (University of Amsterdam). His mandate will last until the end of the year when you elections will take place.

Bio Sketch:

José Manuel García-Aznar received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 from University of Zaragoza, where he serves since 2008 as Full Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department. In these years, he has been visiting researcher at Keele University (2001), KU Leuven (2012) and Cambridge University (2015). In 2004, he was elected as Council Member of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB) (2004- 2012), and finally as Vice-President (2008-2012). In 2012 he was awarded by the ERC with a Starting Grant project (INSILICO-CELL (GA no 306571) that allows him extending his computational expertise to 3D cell cultures in microfluidic devices to understand basic mechanisms of cell migration and creating his own Mechanobiology Lab.

After that he has coordinated several European Research Projects: The Proof of Concept IMAGO (GA no 737543), and two MSCA actions (CAD-BONE-GA no 286179 and CURABONE-GA no 722535). Last year he obtained the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant for his Project ICoMICS (GA no 101018587) to investigate the role of the aberrant biomechanical behavior of solid tumors on the effectiveness of different immunotherapy strategies.

Also, he has leaded numerous national and regional research projects, and he has supervised 13 PhD. As a result of his prolific research career, he is author of over 160 JCR papers with almost 7500 citations and a 46 H-Index.
