Seminar “Science without animals”

More in silico!

The seminar “Science without animals in Europe?" was held at the European Parliament on 28 June by the Centre for Alternatives to Animal Testing, Johns Hopkins University and Animal Welfare Intergroup Member Isabella de Monte (S&D, IT), with representatives of the Italian Ministry of Health, the University "La Sapienza" in Rome, CAAT-Europe and Research4Life.

The legal and scientific support for an Italian roadmap “that embraces new non-animal technologies such as in silico/in vitro tools and mini-brains to create a new economy build upon human–based models” was discussed. The aim of the seminar was to understand all “advantages and concrete possibilities that a new non-animal based strategy can offer to achieve a more predictive science to humans and to generate a new impetus for economic growth.”
